BARBADOS MISSION REPORT 2022

September 16th - October 9th, 2022

With Jupiter reaching its perihelic opposition in 2022 we decided to venture to Barbados once again in hope of being able to capture some detailed images of the planet. I was joined on this trip by my long-time friend Ian Sharp. We operated two Celestron C14 telescopes throughout are stay capturing images of Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and The Moon. Weather throughout this particular stay (my twelfth on the island since 2005) was extremely challenging at times and overall in terms of weather it was undoubtedly one of the poorer stays i've had.

That being said, due to developments in camera technology, software and processing it enabled me to capture what i probably consider my best ever Jupiter imagery obtained with the C14 telescope which came as a pleasant surprise given the often challenging weather. I was also able to capture many excellent images of Saturn, Mars and also detailed views of the lunar surface.

Once again its a big thank you to Eric and Louise on Barbados for their help and hospitality during our stay, and also a big thank you to Milosz for the use of his C14 and mount!
