Annular Solar Eclipse, October 3rd, 2005.

I travelled to Madrid in Spain to watch the Annular eclipse that occurred there on October 3rd, 2005. Madrid was directly on the centerline of the Eclipse track, and 4minutes 11seconds of Annularity was experienced. The eclipse magnitude was 0.95 leaving only a thin ring of sunlight at mid-eclipse.

Weather conditions for the event were perfect with 100% clear skies prevailing through the duration of the eclipse. I travelled to Madrid as part of the Sky at Night BBC team, with fellow imaging enthusiast David Tyler to film a program about the Eclipse. All imagery was obtained by the use of a filtered Takahashi 60mm Apochromat and a Nikon Coolpix 4300 digital camera hand-held to the eyepiece of the telescope.
